One of my sons spent the first 9 years of his life in an institution in China, and he will spend the rest of his life dealing with the trauma acquired there. These children are languishing…please act now.

I was also an orphan at Preet Mandir and subsequently adopted over to England. I obviously don’t remember anything about the orphanage because i was so young but it is always so cool to learn more about where i was and actually seeing other people who were there too!

Comment on Operation Babylift Changed Our Lives by Stephanie Schuler https://www.holtinternational.org/operation-babylift-changed-our-lives/#comment-59279 Wed, 02 Apr 2025 05:33:59 +0000 #comment-59279 I don’t remember his name, but 30 years ago, I went out to dinner with my teacher coworkers in Kent, Washington. Our waiter was a nice young man and we got to talking with him. I’m. It sure how it came up, but he told us he was one of the airlifted babies. It’s a complicated thing to live with, but he was proud of being Vietnamese and also grateful to his adoptive parents. I’ll always remember him.

We adopted my sister’s 4 yr old when she died in an accident. She was troubled herself. She was divorced at the time, and his father disappeared. We happily adopted him, but we were not prepared. Now, 44 years later we are estranged. I was wondering what support is available for adult adoptees and families.

Thanks,
Nancy

Comment on A Letter from BSSK in India by Tommy Jahn https://www.holtinternational.org/sponsor-letter-bssk-india/#comment-58917 Wed, 26 Mar 2025 15:55:27 +0000 https://www.holtinternational.org/?p=70933#comment-58917 I am the proud father of a beautiful Indian lady, who was in the orphanage, BSSK ! She arrived to her new home in Indiana, USA, in 1984. She was born in 1983 and her birth Mother, brought her to the BSSK orphanage. Her nickname at the orphanage was Suki ! She has been my best friend ever since she got off the plane in Chicago, Illinois. She was fourteen months old. Now, at age forty one y.o. , she has developed lower esophagus cancer. I am asking for your prayers, for Katrina Surehka. She has always had a heart of gold and always willing to help anyone. She received a scholarship, when graduating from high school to become a chef. GRANDMA HOLT, brought her to us, from India. Thank you for your prayers. tommyjahn1111@gmail.com
