A few years ago, she was taken in as a patient at the Shriner’s Hospital. Her cerebral palsy had progressed and she was in danger of not being able to walk by her teenage years. She endured some major surgeries, including rotating the bone in her left leg. While she was still confined to a wheelchair after recovering, she told us she wanted to play soccer. This seemed unbelievable at the time.

When this girl sets her mind to it, she will accomplish her goal. She worked to learn how to walk again, then run, then kick. In less than 2 years, she started in her first soccer game! She’s now in her fifth season and thinking World Cup.

I’ve learned not to discount her dreams. If she wants it bad enough, she will find a way.
